Our Team

Before becoming the office secretary, Katie was a paraprofessional at Shawnee focusing on The Kindergarten Literacy Lab. She has her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from The University of Cincinnati, and has worked with children from preschool to middle school age in several school and camp settings throughout the years.

She also has over a decade of secretarial experience within the veterinary field, where she worked as a receptionist and a vet tech. In addition, Katie was a membership specialist at the East Butler County YMCA for 4 years before coming to Shawnee. Katie has twins, Emma and Eli, who are in first grade at Shawnee, and a daughter, Olivia, who is in sixth grade. Katie's passion is helping students and families feel welcomed and loved within the Shawnee Community.

Maryellen D’Abbene has been the Office Manager at Liberty ECS since 2007 and with Lakota since 2000. Her primary role is to support parents, many of whom have a student in school for the first time, through the daily routines.

Ashley Oswald is the Innovation Specialist at Liberty Early Childhood School and Wyandot Early Childhood School. She joined Wyandot in 2007 and Liberty in 2015. Ashley supports teachers with curriculum and technology integration.  She also helps plan lessons and activities in the Innovation Hub, alongside the Innovation Hub Aide and classroom teachers.

Deputy Mike Williams serves the Liberty community as our School Resource Officer. Mike is a retired State Highway Patrolman who joined the Liberty team in 2017. He works with students in many different capacities and helps teachers reinforce safety reminders. He also patrols the building, is instrumental in securing our facility, helps with arrival and dismissal procedures and supports our Liberty students throughout the day.
