Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Arrival

Bus Riders will be dismissed from the buses in the morning at 9:10. They will enter through the front entrance and go to their homeroom. If your child is going to eat breakfast at school, they will be directed to the cafeteria upon entry and will be dismissed from the bus a little earlier than others so they have time to eat and not be late to class. Please discuss with your child if they are to eat breakfast at school. Staff will be in the hallways and at the entrance to help direct students and make sure they safely get to their classroom.

Car Riders will be dropped off in the upper lot near the old school house. Please enter and fill in the two lanes, do not park and do not get out of your vehicle. Staff will be there to open the car door for your student, direct them to walk on the identified paths. Once all students in the lane have been dismissed from the cars and are safely on the sidewalk, a staff member will dismiss the car lines. Please refrain from being on your cell phones and be sure to be attentive and cautious as it is a safety zone and students will be walking. We will begin dismissing car riders starting at 8:55 am. For those of you that were car riders last year, you will notice this is a later time. If you arrive after 9:10 you will need to come down to the lower lot and sign your child in at the office through the main entrance.

Dismissal

Bus Riders will be dismissed from classrooms starting at 4:00 to go to their assigned bus. Teachers will be escorting their students to the buses each day. We do assign a letter to buses and students will always get on the same letter bus at the end of the day. This way if there is a substitute bus with a different number it does not confuse the students. A letter is easier for them to remember than a 3 digit number, so once you know what letter they are riding (we will write in on their bus tag on the backpack) you can practice that letter with them.

Car Riders will be dismissed starting at 3:55. This is a later time than last year. If you are planning on your child being a car rider in the afternoon, please make sure you have filled that out on Final Forms. They will be issued a car number for their backpack and you will put that number (we provide you with 4) in your car window. If someone other than yourself is picking them up, please give them a car number to display in the windshield. Upon arrival you will fill in the two lanes as designated and stay in your car. A staff member will bring your child to the car, open the car door and your child will enter the car. You should be staying in your vehicle for safety reasons. Begin working on independence with seat belts. This keeps the flow of the line going. Do not exit the parking lot until directed to do so by the adult. Please refrain from cell phone usage while in the dismissal lanes.

If you are needing to pick your child up on an occasional basis, you need to call school by 3:30 to let the office know. You will need to tell the name of the person picking up that student and they should have their ID when in the parking lot so that we can confirm the identity of the person picking up.

Half Day Kindergarten 

Arrival procedures are the same as above.

Dismissal  

Car riders - Students will be assigned a number the same as above and parents will be given a card same as above.  AM Kindergarten parents should stay in their cars on the lower side of the building, displaying the numbers in their windows.  A staff member will direct you and then bring the students to your car beginning at 11:50 am.

Bus riders will be dismissed at 11:50 am following the above procedures.  They are scheduled to leave the lot by 11:55 am.
