Dear Liberty Families,

What an exciting and joy-filled week we’ve had here at Liberty! Read Across America Week brought so many smiles, fun activities, and memorable moments for our students.

Read Across America Highlights

This week was truly a celebration of reading!

  • Cincinnati Children’s volunteer readers visited our first-grade classrooms and shared wonderful stories with students.
  • Each day, a student representative from every class joined the morning announcements to share their favorite book and explain why they love it. Their enthusiasm lit up our hallways!

Our staff also shared their reading favorites—Mrs. Apke kicked off the week, followed by Mrs. Nichols, Ms. Maryellen, and Ms. Katie, each bringing their own special stories to our students.

Students proudly wore their Dr. Seuss shirts, and we paused daily to Read Across Liberty.

We ended the week with a fun-filled Hat Day, which students absolutely loved!

Many students let us know they completed this week’s family kindness challenge: reading their favorite book with YOU. Thank you for making reading meaningful at home and for always supporting our work here at Liberty!

Cool Critters Visit Liberty!

Wednesday we enjoyed a lively visit from Cool Critters! Students had the chance to see and learn about a variety of animals, including:

  • a Bearded Dragon
  • a Banana Ball Python
  • a Chinchilla
  • …and several other amazing creatures!

The excitement in the room was contagious—especially when students had the chance to hold or pet some of the animals. The snakes were a fan favorite for many brave learners!

PawMart Fun!

Last week’s PawMart was a big success! Students have been working hard to save their Paw Points, and they were thrilled to purchase some very cool items.
Be sure to check out the picture of some of their awesome finds—WOW!

Around the Classrooms

Music – Second Grade

Second graders created something truly magical this week: they made the sound of rain using only paper! The gentle rhythm they produced filled the room and sounded so much like real rainfall outside the window. It was a beautiful moment of creativity and listening.

First Grade

First graders are working hard on their red words and discovering new strategies to help them learn and remember them. Their persistence and enthusiasm are paying off!

Kindergarten

Our kindergarten students have been learning all about digraphs, and they even spotted them in the books they are reading! Their excitement as they make these connections has been wonderful to see.
