Reporting A Student Absence

Reporting A Student Absence

513-777-6194 - Option 1

The Missing Child Act requires schools to contact parents of all students who are absent from school each day. To avoid a telephone call from the school, parents are asked to phone the attendance line any time before 9:00 a.m. on the day of the absence. Thank you for helping us reduce the possibility of a child missing from school without the parents’ knowledge.

If your child is going to be absent or late due to an appointment, please call the above number and state student name, teacher and reason for the absence/tardiness in your message. Our attendance line is available 24/7.

The Lakota Elementary Student Handbook attendance guidelines are as follows:

A student is considered EXCUSED for the following reasons:

  1.  Personal illness
  2.  Illness in the family
  3.  Death of a relative
  4.  Quarantine of the home
  5.  Religious reasons
  6.  Emergency reasons that must be considered to have good and sufficient cause for the absence. (Court appearance, etc.)

UNEXCUSED absences include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Missed bus
  2. Overslept
  3. No parent note or excuse offered

If you have questions regarding this policy, please contact our office.
